Sackville Preserves 2014

A series of canning sessions using seasonal produce were open to public participation as a way of engaging with the local community. All preserves were given away at the Doncaster Farm Day in exchange for a suggested donation to the Sackville Food Bank.

This project stems from previous video work and workshops that address collective approaches to the preparation and consumption of food. The Sackville project furthers this discussion by presenting various modes of preserving within the realm of sustainability. This project does not claim to present definitive ways of canning food but rather broaden a dialogue with local residents about food and its preservation.

This project was part of a food and art symposium called, you are what you eat, you are, organized by the Owens Art Gallery, Mount Allison University, Sackville New Brunswick and curated by Eryn Foster.

Drop by to taste, sample and pick your favourite preserve. All preserves will be given away for a suggested donation to the Sackville Food Bank.
